Turn back the clock to 1990……still one day of racing (with nearly 900 entries rowing)… the Regatta launched the first ever Rowing and Fitness Expo, this was at a spacious, former Oldsmobile showroom on nearby Commonwealth Avenue, across the river from Magazine Beach.
This year the HOCR Rowing and Fitness Expo will host:
The EXPO is 27,000 sq ft BIG TOP tent (1/3 larger this year!) adjacent to the upstream side of Eliot Bridge on the Boston side of the Charles. This location will be hard to miss.
This site will also host the Regatta Registration Desk, Info Center and Weigh-in for lightweights.
Surrounding the EXPO area dozens of merchants who will hawk sandwiches, beverages and snacks. You annual culinary adventure of kettle corn, hot sausage and fried dough
Sagacious Regatta PA announcers will provide lucid color commentary of scullers and crews as they emerge from the long CBC turn and exit from under the Eliot Bridge as they muster the final push to the finish line, churning the last bit of energy from weary arms and legs.
Upstream from the EXPO site, spread along the banks of the river, are the 9 boat launching docks that 4's and 8's will use throughout Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Each day 30,000 guests will visit the EXPO to take in all of the action and events.
According to a longtime Regatta observer - "It's a beehive - it's the place to bee!"
